Islamabad (Sapeher Times) : Pakistan and Iran have deep historical relations, Finance Minister Ishaq Darki meets Iranian ambassador
Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has congratulated the Iranian leadership and people on the beginning of the Islamic New Year and said that Pakistan and Iran have deep historical ties and relations. He said this while talking to the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Raza Amiri Moghadam here on Monday. The Iranian ambassador mentioned the historical relations between the two countries and emphasized the possibilities of mutual cooperation.
He appreciated the cooperation and support of the current government in enhancing bilateral relations in trade and economic sectors. In the meeting, the parties discussed in detail various areas of cooperation between the two countries, including trade, investment and security. They discussed activating the recently opened border markets and opening three more border markets between the two countries to ensure maximum trade through the barter system and to remove technical barriers in expanding trade between the two countries.
In the meeting, the cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in the banking sector was also reviewed. The heads of the central banks of the two countries will meet in Pakistan next week in which issues related to banking cooperation will be discussed and efforts will be made to resolve the issues. The Finance Minister and the Iranian Ambassador appreciated the decisions of the Joint Economic Ministerial Commission which met after 5 years.
The parties emphasized on speedy implementation of measures to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries. In the meeting, the parties also discussed the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and stressed on mutually resolving the technical hurdles for the benefit of both countries. The parties also appreciated mutual cooperation and support for each other at international forums.
The Finance Minister assured the Ambassador of Iran of support and cooperation during his tenure in Pakistan. The Ambassador of Iran thanked the Finance Minister for his cooperation and support.
